Photographing The Stanford Mansion

Working for the California Heritage Council, I had the pleasure of photographing this well-preserved and period-decorated Sacramento CA home built in 1856 by prominent Sacramento merchant Shelton C. Fogus. In June 1861, Leland Stanford bought the Fogus home for $8,000.
 

Three governors conducted the business of the State of California in the Mansion—Leland Stanford, Frederic F. Low, and Henry H. Haight.
